A year after its initial announcement, Ford finally revealed its much-anticipated Ranger Plug-in Hybrid at the IAA Transportation 2024 in Hanover, Germany. This marks a significant step forward for the Blue Oval company as it enters the mid-size pickup truck segment with its first electric offering.

While the regional launches in Europe and Australia are slated for 2025, the Ranger PHEV is poised to redefine the segment with its impressive capabilities. The Ranger PHEV boasts a powerful combination of a 2.3 liter EcoBoost gasoline engine and a 75 kW electric motor, providing a robust performance that rivals its conventional counterparts.

The 11.8 kWh battery pack offers a generous electric only range, allowing for emissions free driving in urban environments or for short commutes.

One of the standout features of the Ranger PHEV is its Pro Power Onboard capability, which allows the truck to serve as a mobile generator, powering tools, equipment, or even campsites. This feature is particularly valuable for off grid work and recreational activities, making the Ranger PHEV a versatile and practical choice for various lifestyles.

In addition to its electric capabilities, the Ranger PHEV retains the ruggedness and functionality that the Ranger is renowned for. It offers impressive towing capacity, payload capacity, and off-road performance, making it suitable for demanding tasks and adventures.

The Ranger PHEV represents a significant milestone for Ford as it expands its electric vehicle lineup into the pickup truck segment. With its combination of power, efficiency, and versatility, the Ranger PHEV is poised to attract a wide range of customers who are seeking a sustainable and capable vehicle.

Ford’s new Ranger PHEV is a game changer. With a powerful 279 PS engine and an impressive 690 Nm of torque, it’s the most potent Ranger ever produced. The vehicle boasts a hybrid transmission, a battery that can be fully charged in around four hours, and an estimated electric range of over 45 km.

Its capabilities extend beyond its performance, with a payload of one ton, a towing capacity of up to 3,500 kg, and an e-4WD system featuring a dual-range transfer box and rear differential lock. To enhance convenience and functionality, the Ranger PHEV offers features like Ford Pro Home Charging, Pro Power Onboard technology, Matrix LED headlights, a Flexible Rack System, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, and a 360-degree camera.

The Stormtrak limited edition adds a touch of style with its unique design elements and premium features, including 18 inch alloy wheels, a honeycomb grille, fender vents, and a decal kit.

The Ranger PHEV’s interior is equally impressive, with a ritzy cockpit treatment featuring premium materials and a 10 speaker B&O sound system. This combination of power, efficiency, and comfort makes the Ranger PHEV a compelling choice for those seeking a versatile and capable pickup truck.

While the European launch is scheduled for spring 2025, the Australian release date remains uncertain. Ford has not yet provided specific details on the availability of the Ranger PHEV in other markets.
