Volkswagen Reveals 2025 Taos Pricing, Starting at $26,420 with Upgraded Features and Engine Enhancements

Volkswagen has released pricing details for the 2025 Taos lineup, with the base front-wheel-drive S trim starting at $26,420, reflecting a $1000 increase from the previous year. Adding the 4Motion all-wheel-drive system to any model will cost an extra $1700. The front-drive SE starts at $29,320, and the SE Black at $31,570. The top-tier SEL trim, available only with all-wheel drive, is priced at $36,120. These updates cater to the evolving needs of U.S. buyers by offering more options and fine-tuning features.

Volkswagen is focusing on aligning its offerings with American market preferences, rather than emphasizing its European design influence. This is evident in the updates made to the 2025 Taos subcompact SUV, which is tailored to better meet the needs of North American consumers. The brand aims to provide features and options that resonate more with local buyers, moving away from the one-size-fits-all approach.

Significant upgrades have been made to the 1.5-liter engine, including new piston rings, a larger intercooler, and improvements to the turbocharger and fuel injectors. These changes result in a 16-horsepower increase, bringing the engine’s output to 174 horsepower, while torque remains at 184 pound-feet. Additionally, all-wheel-drive models now come with an eight-speed automatic transmission, replacing the older seven-speed dual-clutch system, which had been criticized for its rough shifts. This improvement enhances driving comfort, especially for non-enthusiast drivers.

Inside, the 2025 Taos features design improvements aimed at elevating the cabin experience. The interior now includes a light-colored lower dash panel and soft-touch leatherette on the door panels, adding a more premium feel. An 8.0-inch touchscreen is now standard across all trims, and higher trims offer wireless phone connectivity, voice control, and satellite radio. SE models also gain adaptive headlights and front and rear parking sensors, improving safety and convenience for drivers.

The exterior of the 2025 Taos has also received fresh styling updates. New front and rear designs include a full-width light bar at the back and LED projector headlights for the S trim. While final fuel economy figures are not yet available, Volkswagen expects the new Taos to match or exceed the efficiency of the 2024 model. The 2025 Taos will be available later this year, with more details on the third-generation Tiguan expected to be shared at the L.A. Auto Show in November.
