Lamborghini Recalls 2024 Revuelto for Windshield Wiper Issue Amid V12 Legacy Transition

Volkswagen Group’s Automobili Lamborghini has issued a recall for certain 2024 Revuelto models due to a potential issue with the passenger side windshield wiper system. The recall affects 455 vehicles produced between April 27, 2023, and September 27, 2024, in the United States.

The problem lies in the connecting rod that links the passenger wiper arm to the wiper motor. Lamborghini discovered that this rod may bend due to variations in raw material properties and dimensional limitations, potentially leading to separation from the wiper motor.

To address this issue, Lamborghini will replace the affected connecting rods with an improved version at no cost to the customer. The automaker has identified six warranty claims related to this problem worldwide. The replacement parts are being produced by OSLV Italia.

Lamborghini has already implemented changes to its production process to ensure that future Revuelto models are not affected by this issue. Affected owners will be notified by mail and through the customer app starting in December.

Lamborghini’s Revuelto, a naturally aspirated V12-engined supercar, is a rare breed in today’s automotive world. As the successor to the Aventador, it boasts a brand-new 6.5-liter engine, a testament to the Italian marque’s commitment to high-performance engines. However, due to downsizing and electrification trends, this engine is unlikely to be used by other Volkswagen controlled brands.

The Revuelto joins a select group of naturally aspirated V12 cars, including the Ferrari 12Cilindri, Purosangue, Gordon Murray T.50 and T.33, and Aston Martin Valkyrie. On the other hand, force fed V12s are found in cars like the Aston Martin Vanquish, Mercedes-Maybach S 680, Rolls Royce models, and Pagani Utopia.

The automotive industry is increasingly turning away from naturally aspirated engines due to emissions and fuel economy regulations. Lamborghini’s LaFerrari replacing F80, for example, features a twin turbo V6. Similarly, the Huracan-replacing Temerario boasts a turbocharged V8 that revs up to 10,000 rpm.

With the Temerario, Lamborghini has completed the electrification of its lineup. The Lanzador concept, set to become the brand’s first series production EV in 2028, marks the next step in this journey.
