Recently, I’ve been completely impressed by vintage Chevy trucks. This obsession began when I was browsing the Barrett-Jackson 2023 Scottsdale Fall Auction docket and spotted a striking blue 1972 Chevrolet C10 Stepside, complete with its original I6 engine and transmission.

This particular first-generation C/K-series pickup has been revitalized with a frame-up restoration. During this process, the frame received a durable powder-coating, and various components, including the suspension and brakes, were upgraded.

Now, the truck is outfitted with a Total Cost Involved suspension system and equipped with Wilwood power disc brakes for solid stopping power.

The exterior was refinished in an unusual yet appealing color combination: Champagne for the body with Cream accents on the grille and cab roof—almost tempting to imagine as a drink pairing. Inside the Stepside bed, a new load floor made of rich Tigerwood has been installed.

The truck sits close to the ground on smoothie wheels featuring chrome hub caps and low-profile tires, giving it a distinctive stance.

The interior also boasts a range of updates, though they were done tastefully, without overwhelming the classic feel.

Tan and taupe upholstery covers the power bucket seats, custom center stack/console, and door panels. The original gauges were replaced with modern Dakota Digital instrumentation.

The steering column now sports billet tilt and turn signal stalks, connected to a new wood-rimmed steering wheel. Other conveniences include power windows, a Pioneer head unit, and a Vintage Air climate control system to keep things cool.

The builder of this truck didn’t stop with just cosmetic improvements. They swapped out the original engine for a powerful 430-horsepower LS3 6.2-liter V8, meticulously concealing wires and cables to maintain a clean and orderly engine bay.

This fuel-injected engine channels its power through a SuperMatic 6L80-E six-speed automatic transmission, ending at a nine-inch Currie rear end.

With that kind of power boost, it’s tempting to see just how fast this beauty can go. The downside? Flooring it would make this gorgeous truck a blur, robbing nearby drivers and onlookers of a full view of its classic design and eye-catching colors.

If you’re currently in a Chevrolet C10 phase and are seriously considering this custom ’63, be prepared for a price tag of $129,900 to satisfy that craving.
