The SEMA show is a playground for automotive giants and independent builders alike. Among the latter, Blazin Rodz has carved a niche for itself with its extraordinary creations. One such masterpiece is Doughboy, a monstrous Chevrolet Chevelle packing a staggering 2,800 horsepower.
This isn’t just a brute force build, however. The car’s foundation is a meticulously crafted Art Morrison chassis, reinforced to handle the immense power. The suspension system, entirely custom-engineered, employs CNC-milled 7075-T6 aluminum components.
Even the intercooler boasts an innovative design, featuring 3D-printed carbon fiber radiator ducts and a frame that doubles as the front core support. The custom billet engine intake, which also serves as the fuel rail, is positioned 15 inches closer to the car’s center of gravity, further enhancing performance and handling.
The heart of Doughboy, the latest creation from Blazin Rodz, is a monstrous 540 cubic inch (8.8-liter) Brodix V8, twin-turbocharged by a pair of Precision 8385 Next Gen turbos and fed by dual 10-GPM Aeromotive Brushless fuel pumps.
The fuel cell, cleverly integrated into the rear diffuser, adds to the car’s aggressive aesthetic while posing an interesting engineering challenge: ensuring adequate ground clearance under all driving conditions.
The cabin is equally impressive, boasting a 4130 roll cage, billet pillars, and a Motec C1812 gauge cluster. An Audi R8 steering wheel provides intuitive control over the car’s various functions.
