A Charlotte-based personal finance newsletter called “Tiny Money” has reached 7,000 subscribers and has sold out its advertising inventory for the first half of the year.

The newsletter was started in September by Ted Williams, who started the Charlotte Agenda newsletter that is now the Axios Charlotte newsletter.

“Tiny Money” has an average 78% open rate — about double the open rate of most other email newsletters. More than two dozen employers have purchased job listings at $199 apiece, and he also sells “Tiny Consulting Camp” sessions for $200.

“Newsletters still rule,” wrote Williams on LinkedIn. “And I’m a sicko that obsesses over writing them. It’s a good format for my skills. Helping people find jobs is very personally fulfilling.”

The newsletter is published once a week, and Williams is evaluating whether to go to a twice-a-week schedule in 2026.
